Each week is bringing new readings, new understandings, and new challenges in MS/HS Literature, Government, Grammar and Family and Consumer Sciences (Home Ec).  The learning is peppered with humor, which helps us all!  The 7/8 graders are reading and analyzing stories about generosity.  The 11/12 grades are getting a break from reading, and instead are using new techniques to create writing of their own!  The 10th graders, too, are taking a reading break, and have focused on study skills and test taking skills.  Next week the 10th graders  will dig into to grammar through analyzing others' writings and doing themselves.  It was a big week for Government class-our mock election resulted in 22 votes for Trump, 21 for Young, and 21 for Holcomb.  We are also taking a look at the US citizen in action-how to effect changes in our government-federal and local.  The 7/8 grade Grammar class just finished a chapter on very incredibly awesome adverbs--and applied the parts of speech in a crazy MadLibs story.  After a cumulative test Monday in Family and Consumer Science, this class has explored the worlds of vegetables, fruit, salads, soups, sandwiches and cheese this week. Today we tasted and/or smelled various cheeses, including Gouda (the favorite), Apple-Smoked Gouda, Asiago, Romano, le Gruyere, Brie, Goat and Manchego (sheep---one of the least favorite!).  We look forward to Becky Ringger doing a demonstration of Chicken Stir-fry on Monday, followed by a week exploring cooking with poultry, meats, and fish.  You might be able to try out the marinade we plan to make in lab next week, too.

Our school days continue to be packed full of learning and fun (like the pizza feast today).  It's great when we can all work, learn and grow together.  It's a great group!
