Greetings to all!  It has been just over one month since we've been in our new classes at KA!  Wow-there is never a dull moment...so much is being learned, both by me and my students!  Everyone has been so helpful and encouraging-I really love coming into teach each day.  I am definitely enjoying getting to know the MS/HS students better.  They all have so much to offer.

All the Literature classes are vocabulary and literature everyday, with weekly quizzes in Vocab.  So many new words, including "etymology!"  Literature takes us into wonderful stories like Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (MS), The Fruits of Toil (10th grade), and Of Plymouth Plantation (11/12) from the Early American Literature of William Bradford...tricky writing to decipher!

The Government class has learned about the process that led to the writing of our US Constitution, and are doing projects on a Founding Father and how he used Biblical values in his work.

The MS is putting pieces of the Grammar puzzle together...after first taking apart sentences by finding the various verb tenses.  We had a lot of fun brainstorming irregular verbs.

The highlights of the Family and Consumer Sciences (formerly Home Ec.) class have been our field trip to Grounds and Grains to learn about coffee and teas, and presentations on Grains (Kristin Kaehr), yeast breads (LeeAnn Gerber).  Next week, Lydia Kaehr is doing a presentation on Canning. Thanks so much for sharing your talents for these eager-to-learn students!  We even made some yummy Orange Pineapple Slushies!   Hands-on is the best, though they have their share of reading, quizzes and tests, too.

Thanks for all you all do to make teaching at KA great.  I appreciate your patience and prayers as I "find my groove" with life here.
