In History, we are studying the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War which leads into the Industrial Age. The most interesting part of this to me is the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. At its completion, it took someone the same amount of time to go from New York to San Francisco as it did to go from New York to Boston during the Revolutionary War!!
In M.S. Science we just finally finished our Unit on meteorology. Now we are beginning to study zoology and taxonomy. For most students, this is the favorite of all science studies.
In Biology, we are studying algae. Did you know 75% of the oxygen we breath in our atmosphere comes from algae and not trees?
In Chemistry, we are studying molecular geometry.
In Marine Biology, we are studying microscopic life in the oceans. Did you know you probably ate and used algae's byproducts recently? It is in your toothpaste and your jelly beans, ice cream and jello.
In Physical Science, we are studying gravity, velocity, acceleration and Newton's 3 laws of motion. Do any of you remember off the top of your head the acceleration due to gravity?
In Physics, Matt Lemmen (the lone Physics student) is studying momentum.
In Pysiology, Olivia Moser and Lauren Gerber are studying the peripheral nervous system. You have touch receptors in your skin that respond when moved only 1/25,000 of an inch! How many taste buds does the average human tongue have? 10,000
