8th Grade Parents
Next year, your children will be going into high school. Before they get there, there are several things to talk about.

First, 21st Century Scholars is a scholarship that is offered to any student that fits certain criteria. This application for this scholarship is due by June 30 of the student's 8th grade year. For more information on this scholarship, go to the following website: http://www.in.gov/21stcenturyscholars/2376.htm.

Second, there are two different state sealed diplomas that we offer at Kingdom Academy; the Core 40, and the Core 40 with Academic Honors. We do not offer the Core 40 with Technical Honors diploma. To see the different requirements for each diploma visit the following website: http://www.doe.in.gov/sites/default/files/curriculum/core401.pdf. Normally, we start all students on an Academic Honors path for graduation. In this way, we attempt to prepare them for any future outside of high school. If, however, this becomes to demanding, or the interest in this type of diploma is not realized around their junior year, we have the option to bring them back to a regular Core 40 diploma. It is more difficult for a student to go from a Core 40 diploma to an Academic Honors diploma though.

These are only two of the many things 8th grade students, and their parents, should know about. If along the way something comes up, don't hesitate to contact the school for help.
